This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the SetPoint mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
A. Account and Profile Data
- Name (first name, last name)
- Profile photos and other user-generated content you submit (e.g., match posts and messages)
- Account identifiers:
- Email address (if you use email to sign in or verify)
- Phone number (E.164 format, if you add/verify a phone number)
B. Authentication and Verification Data
- When you verify your email and/or phone number, we collect the identifier you provide (email address or phone number) and a 6-digit verification code.
- For security, we store a hashed version of verification codes with an expiration time (codes expire after a short period, and attempts are tracked).
- We use this data to confirm ownership of your email/phone and to secure your account.
C. Contact Synchronization Data (with your permission)
- If you choose to sync your contacts, we request permission to access your contacts.
- We process contact information you provide to help you find and invite other users by phone number.
- The data we may process includes:
- Contact name
- Contact phone numbers
- A hashed representation of contact phone numbers (to enable matching without relying on raw phone numbers alone).
- We use this information to categorize contacts as:
- Registered SetPoint users ("On SetPoint")
- Non-users ("Invite to SetPoint") for invitation workflows.
- You control whether you sync contacts, and you can stop using this feature at any time.
D. Location Data
- If you grant location permission, we collect precise location information to:
- Find nearby courts
- Support match scheduling and discovery features
- You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.
E. Device and Usage Data
- Basic device information (e.g., device model, OS version, app version)
- Diagnostics (e.g., crash logs, performance signals)
- Interaction data that helps us secure and improve the App
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Send verification codes and verify email/phone ownership
- Provide match scheduling, group chats, invites, and RSVP features
- Support contact-based discovery and invitation workflows
- Send notifications about matches, invites, and updates (in-app and push notifications)
- Protect the App, prevent fraud/abuse, and maintain security
- Improve performance and features
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share information with:
- Service Providers
- Hosting and database providers
- Authentication and account services
- Notification providers (email and SMS)
- Analytics/monitoring providers
- Communications Services
- Verification codes may be delivered via email and/or SMS using third-party providers.
- Other Users
- If you participate in matches or group chats, other users will see the information necessary to run those features (e.g., your display name and match details).
- Legal and Safety
- We may disclose information if required to comply with law, or to protect safety, security, and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your data, including:
- Secure transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Password hashing
- Hashing verification codes and contact phone numbers for matching workflows
- Access controls and security monitoring
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We continually review and improve our security measures.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:
- Verification codes: retained only for a limited time and then expire automatically.
- Account data and user content: retained while your account is active (or as required for legal, security, and operational reasons).
- Contact synchronization inputs: processed to support matching/invitation workflows; we use this information only for these purposes and handle it securely.
If you delete your account, we will remove associated data to the extent permitted by law and keep only what is required for legal/security purposes.
6. Your Choices and Rights (User Controls)
Depending on your region, you may be able to:
- Access, correct, or delete your information
- Request a copy of your data
- Disable location sharing in device settings
- Stop syncing contacts and revoke contact access permissions in device settings

8. Children's Privacy
- SetPoint is not intended for users under 13.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and continue to provide access to the updated policy.
